The Cuexcomate and the Cable Car of Puebla

Writer's picture: Maestro ProfesorMaestro Profesor

The Cuexcomate is a small (former) geyser in the city of Puebla in the state of Puebla in México, which has the reputation as being the smallest volcano in the world, despite not actually being a volcano. Even in the description to the entrance, they say it's a part of a geyser that was formed when the Popocatépetl (an active volcano that has been actively erupting these days) was formed. Entrance was MXN$13 and basically you just spend a few minutes there. It's actually quite cool though because it did feel like going into a (dead) volcano. There's still water down there.

Then, I went to take the cable car, which is basically from one side of a park (which has multiple fortresses) to another. A one-way ticket (MXN$30) would definitely make more sense than a return (MXN$50) because there's no real practical purpose to taking the teleferico. The views are nice but it's not easy to make out the famous buildings that form the UNESCO world heritage site.

Both are fairly close to the historic centre and the CAPU bus terminal, although what I did was taking an Uber everywhere.
