Saltillo, Coachella, México

Writer's picture: Maestro ProfesorMaestro Profesor

Saltillo is the state capital of Coachella, a state in northern Mexico. The city is only around 2 hours away by bus from Monterrey, the capital of Neuvo León, and thus a day trip from Monterrey is doable.

It has a number of nice colonial buildings, and some interesting museums. It has the first teacher-training institution in México (now a museum), and a museum for teacher training. It's also the birthplace of the serape.

It has 2 main tourist areas, the city centre, and the area around the hill with the viewpoint. They are close to each other. There are also some parks on the outskirts, although you can easily take an Uber there. The bus terminal is not close to the city centre.
