Huachinango, Puebla, México

Huachinango is a "pueblo magico" (magical town) in the state of Puebla in Central Mexico, although it's around just as far to Puebla City as it is to Mexico City. Futura has the bus there from the northern bus terminal, and it takes only around 2 hours and 15 minutes.

The small city has its own image of Jesus, and the dome of the parroquia is the third-largest in Latin America.

There isn't much to see beyond that. But it's around half an hour away from the cities Nuevo Necaxa and Tenango, accessible by a minibus from Xicotepec. Each of these cities was built next to a dam.

Nuevo Necaxa is the endpoint for the bus from Mexico City, and produces power for the rest of the region. Tenango is very small but was a filming location of the Mexican movie Tizoc, the last onscreen appearance of the entertainment legend Pedro Infante, before his death in a plane crash. The film itself was produced during the golden age of Mexican cinema, and was about Tizoc, a native American played by the European-looking Infante.
